PHOTOGRAPHERS’ LOCATION NOTES

This is one of several images we shot after doing a portrait of Fred Wilkins. (see stories #161 and #151)

His property was strewn with old cars and farm machinery. This was the first six cylinder car Morris produced after the Second World War. It had an overhead cam engine and its top speed was 83 miles an hour, considered fast enough to be used by the British police.

Those familiar with English cops and robbers films of the early 1950s would recognise these black liveried cars screaming around the streets of London chasing villains with their police bells ringing.
